I just got a box of .376 brass in today from Mid South that was $32.79. Of course three days after I ordered it (yesterday) Midway sends me a notice that they had "limited quantities" in stock at $19.99 so I ordered a box from them too (along with some 400gr .416" hornady bullets and some case lube)
I now have 150 pieces, that should do for the .416 Aagaard project. At least for a little while...

That's why when I first got mine I bought 100 ounds of loaded Hornady ammo and two cases (600 rounds) of Hornady brass.
Have been able to supply two friends with a bit of brass and still have 400 rounds left....should be just right for planned future needs. (No, I won't be selling any more....two more shooting friends have .376's under construction as we speak.)
My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

How often do the suppliers close it out at the $20 mark? Last time I saw it that price (early last year) I bought 800 rounds of brass. Is this a common occurance?

Everytime I find it on sale at Midway I buy some more. I called Hornady last year asking if the caliber had any legs. They said they didn't know what the future held with all the termoil with the new short action mags from Win and Rem. They did say they had a lot of gunsmiths calling for info on building rifles in the caliber. I still wonder if it'll die. I sure love it though.

I think it will live. It feeds very well, has enough power to get the job done and the recoil isn't onerous in a rifle that you can actually carry around all day. With the modern "super bullets" in 270 grains it is more capable than the 375 H&H was in the days it made its bones.

I called Hornady the day I got my rifle and asked what loads shot best. They said it was a surprising caliber- it shoots any load well and any listed powder. I thought they were putting on a sales pitch but I've found it to be true. I use it deer hunting with minimum listed load with 3031 and 231 gr speer bullet on deer, doesn't damage meat- can eat right up to the hole as they say. I've got a ringing in the ears real bad so I don't like blast without muffs- the lighter loads are pussycats.
If you want to impress people you load max load in H335 and either the 270 or 300 Hornady at dark. It throws a ball of flame that is tremendous! People scream like maniacs and want the rifle. Checkbooks come out.
It's quite a caliber! I have a Steyr rifle but I'm sure you'd like it in any rifle.

I have to admit I like mine so much it has become my go to gun replacing my 300 wm in that position. I loaded up on ammo and components about 2 years ago so am set but I guess it couldnt hurt to pick up more brass. I will call Midway tomorrow. That is certainly a good price if they still have any.
