Hi Guys

Been offered a Winchester 375 H&H pre 64 mod 70 with serial number 431173, it is in excellent condition and has hardly been used as the owner has been wheelchair bound since the 80's and he bought it in 1970. Is there any way that I can get more info on it, also what loads can I push through it.

I know there are bound to be a couple of fans of the above said, and would appreciate as much info on it as possible, also what i a reasonable price for it keeping in mind that it is in excellent condition. Also it is not super model

Regards

Aubrey

If excellent and original, I'd say around $2500-$3000.

.458,

Prewar is quite knowledgeable about pre-64's. And he is correct in this case too. As far as loads you can put anything through a pre-64 that you can put through any other .375H&H. There is no weakness inherent in a pre-64 action.

Says it was manufactured in 1958. My favorite powder is RL15 with just about any bullet.
Hope this helps.

.458Aubs,

I have one like yours. Serial number 331.XXX. Made in 1955. I bought it 18 years ago, well used but in perfect shape. Standard Grade with Monte Carlo stock. Not in collectors grade but an excellent shooting and hunting grade! Is my favorite hunting rifle. And my main hunting is for Wild Boar and Red Deer!
It feeds the four cartridges from the magazine as if there weren´t any! And shoots almost all loads from 235 to 300 grs (R15 and 4350) not all in the mitical same group but to no more than 1,5 inches at 100 meters with each load.
Great rifle and one of the best, if not the best, factory .375 H&H ever made !
Buy it now !
Sincerely,

PH

I have now owned and used three of these in original form, still have one in super shape and in a Rimrock-Borden stock. I also have a custom .375 on the P-64 action, 20" Classic sts. bbl., Recknagels, Leupy QRWs, Leupy 2.5CMHD, Micky Monte Carlo stock and it shoots "bugholes" with 300 NPS.

I may get another of these actions from a bud and build yet another .375 on it as I like the functional, simple rifles that can be had this way. I also feel that the P-64 is the best factory .375 ever made and have had a Ruger Magnum, Brno 602 and Browning FN-LE as well as the three original P-64s.

If, in really nice shape and you can get it for $2500.00, GRAB IT NOW and KEEP IT! I would go to the $3000.00 mark and have seen them going for more, there is a damm good reason why they are so highly valued. Good luck on it!
