I got around to playing a bit with my new (to me) 416 Rigby yesterday, and I gotta say that I've NEVER had a rifle with this much creep in the trigger. Must be a 1/4"!!! When it lets go, it's pretty light, but I noticed creep in the set trigger, as well. I didn't measure the pull weight, though. I've never adjusted a trigger before, and don't plan to start now, so I'll take it to the smithy and get it done right. Just wondering how much trouble they are to clean up, and if this is something common to CZ's??

Call AHR and have then install one of their triggers. You just need to look once at a CZ 550 trigger to understand why they are terrible as is. Lose the little ball when you take it appart and spend hours looking for it. Just try and get a replacement ! -Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

Most people get a decent trigger by following the adjustment instructions on the inside cover of your Owner's Manual. Takes about ten minutes. Give it a try. Okie John "The 30-06 works. Period." --Finn Aagaard

I adjusted both my 550's triggers. I think that they are amazing! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

I agree most triggers that leave the CZ plant are crap as is. Why would they spend the time and money tuning it when almost every one who buys one will spend the 10 mins mentioned above retuning it to their own taste anyway? They may even rationalise it by saying leaving all that creep in the trigger is a reminder to the owner to tune the trigger up right. Rob, do you happen to know if AHR's is a set trigger as well? ![]() I'm with Peter on this one. I took up the creep on the factory CZ single set trigger, and I think it's awesome. ![]() "They who would give up an essential Liberty for Temporary Security, deserves neither Liberty or Security." ---Benjamin Franklin "SIC SEMPER TYRANNUS"

I found the trigger adjustment on my CZ550 very simple to adjust to a very nice letoff. It's also a 416 Rigby. I don't like the pre-set aspect and just adjust it out. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

The same thing happend to me. I lost the little ball when taking the trigger off for bedding, I think it shot across the room, never found it after an hour of looking. I finally got someone at CZ to promise to send me one. I hope it gets here soon.

One piece of advice.... On the CZ trigger adjustments, a little gets you a lot, so don't go cranking them willy nilly. Note on paper where it was when you started and go just a little (1/8 or 1/4 turn at a time) and keep track as you go. Personally, I love the set trigger for range work and sight ins. For hunting I just leave it in the "regular" position. Wonderful trigger IMO! ---------------------------------- Never Go Undergunned, Always Check The Sight In, Perform At Show Time. The AHR trigger is not a set trigger. I installed my own, no problems. You do need to releive the trigger gard to accomidate the wider trigger. It is both wider and sets further back in the trigger gard. Great improvement. P.S. I used a mill to releave the trigger guard but it could probably be done with a file. Brett

One piece of advice- Make absolutely sure by pounding the butt of the gun on the ground ( real Hard) at least three times, after you've adjusted it that the CZ trigger wont let go. Be carefull, as they are pieces of crap and we all know just how well they polish up!-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

The 550 trigger is pretty easy to adjust, However it is not nearly as nice as the triggers that are on my CZ 527's I have a 550 varmint, I can't get the set below 24oz. and the unset will not go below 3.5#'s. This is great for a hunting rifle but on a target rifle I want more, The set also has some creep I can't seem to get out, everytime I adjust the takeup to remove the creep, It goes too far and drops the sear when you release it after moving it forward. in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

Can I ask you guys for a favour? I bought my 602 second hand (now sircumsized into a Lott), and thus do not have the instructions manual... Could anyone please copy the instructions for trigger adjustment here, or direct me to a site that has the instructions? Thanks a lot!

I guess I am the odd man out here, but my 550 in 458 works just the way I want it. Not wanting to stir up the Hornet nest, but I believe people worry about creepy triggers and MOA accuracy, more when shooting at a paper target that isn't going to try and stomp them into a mudhole, then they do when shooting at something with hair and an attitude. I just want to get my sights on the critter and have the gun go BOOM. I have this same opinion about felt recoil. JMO Even the rocks don't last forever.

I adjusted the trigger on my 550 also, and now its very good. i don't even use the set. that being said I would rather have a simpler trigger on a African DG rifle. ...tj3006 freedom1st

I found the trigger easy to adjust, and I also did the "pound the butt on the ground" technique to test the regular trigger and the set trigger. Got rid of the creep quite easily. Went and shot the rifle for the first time last night. Didn't bench it, as I wanted to just get a feel for the rifle. I fired some light lead loads that the previous owner had provided with it, then I shot the Federal 410 gr. factory loads provided. First shot offhand with the factory load at the 100 yard gong - hit! OK, let's try the 200 yard gong offhand. 2 shots - 2 hits. I quit while I was ahead... ![]() I will say that the .416 Rigby hits with authority - at both ends! Closest I can relate to it was an 8mm Rem. Mag. I had for a while, but the 416 definitely has the edge. My .375 isn't even in the same class, recoil wise.

416 Rigby is a worthy handful.... Go to the Barnes 3 book and work up to max (near 416 Weatherby) and I find the felt recoil to be equivalent to my 458 Lott loaded warm.... just about all the fun I can imagine needing. I love my CZ regular/set trigger, it does everything I want and more. ---------------------------------- Never Go Undergunned, Always Check The Sight In, Perform At Show Time. the trigger on a 602 - at least on the 375 i had - is not REMOTELY similar to the one on a 550. i never took the trigger assy off any of my 550's to check fit but it didn't look to me like they were interchangeable between 602's and 550's.
