Hi all

Was reading and got over a caliber from Schueler, Germany, it is a 11.2*72 Schueler.
It launched around 1914. Also called the .444 Schueler.

It is in the same class, as the .425 WR, .404 Jeffery and the .416 Rigby

But, are there some here who use it today?
How is it to find brass and reload for it?

Anyone who have had a rifle made now?

Just one caliber, that is lost?

Hope not

Cheers all

Hi..Ups..I forgot the smaller brother, the 11.2*60

Some who use it?

It is also a "lost" caliber, that I am sure will serve just great today!

Not lost but simply quietly being enjoyed.
I have one of the Schuler rifles in 11.2x72. This is indeed the .444 shooting a 401 Gr. bullet at around 2400 and up to 2700 FPS.
I purchased my rifle from a gentleman who acquired it in Zimbabwe while doing Elephant control work. He used it to take several hundred Elephant.
This rifle and his 12.7 were written about in Rifle magazine some years ago. I have a copy at my home in Northern California.
This rifle is not to be confused with the x60 rifle which is significantly anemic by comparison. The .72 will definitely inform you when you approach the upper end of the loading limits.
I received a large supply of swagged bullets from Star bullets of Ferndale California. They are rather short by comparison to todays longer bullets but are reported to have had multiple complete pass-throughs on Buffalo and Ele skulls due to the rather heavy steel jacket.
The brass is rebated and most of what I have is original .425 Westley Richards but it can also be acquired from Midway. Dies are also still available.
My rifle is heavy and of longer barrel compared to most but handles easily and the extra weight (Reducer in the butt) helps tame the recoil. I found it much heavier than the recoil of my .416 Rigby and .458 WM. It is a bit lighter of recoil than full-house Lott. I have never fired a .425 WR but am looking for one now.

I cannot tell from the photo but it appears to have the full length rib integral to barrel. Mine also has a locking pin that goes through the stock and through a receiving keyhole on the bottom of the barrel.
Very nice rifle.
