Run while you can. This site & this forum is ADDICTIVE. The only big bore I have right now is my brother's .375 H&H. I have a P-17 that is just begging to be turned into a .416 Rem.

Pedro,

Welcome from one who is a relative newcomer himself. You have a nice medium/heavy rifle collection.

Be careful though. If you visit this forum very much, you will find yourself "needing" a .500 plus before long.

Welcome! I second all the warnings, before too long reading on here you will want to build a 500 this, 505 that, 510 something.

And of course it is soon going to become an AR Big Bore forum requirement and every member have a 404 Jeffery on a standard 98, with drop box magazine etc. :-)

Post some pictures of your rifles when you get a chance, we all love oogling each others toys.

Hi friends

Thank you for the welcomes [Smile]

Here in Portugal we have only big game like deers and wild boars. In this country, I use only my double 9,3x74 because this caliber it would be more than adequate for any Portuguese big game. The other rifles are only for my own pleasure.
Soon I will post the pictures

Pedro Sabino

PS - Bill, how do you know Madredeus?

Welcome aboard Pedro, you'll find a treasure trove of information on big bore rifles, and big game hunting, on this web-site. There is probably 200 years of combined experience available to any one willing to ask question here! Additionally, we can use some of your info as well! The only reason any person cannot learn something from anyone, is he is a dead man! [Cool] So we are looking forward to your future posts!

Pedro,

That Mauser is fantastic. Beautiful metalwork and wood. Truly a classic. Those cartridges look like Federal Premiums in .375 with 300 gr. Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer solids. Nice loads.

My PH in Tanzania last summer was originally from Mozambique and now lives in Lisbon as a Portuguese citizen. Since the wars with the communists and nationalists and the complete confiscation of his concessions and business in Mozambique, he has relocated to Portugal and now hunts in other African countries. He said he will never return to Mozambique and I don't blame him.

Is it difficult in Portugal to own firearms? It is encouraging to see that you are keeping the practice alive.

All the best,

Mike

Hi friends

Mike, I see that you are expert in the subject.

In Portugal there are many PH from Angola and Mozambique. Many of them are people returned to its native country after the war as you spoke.

Here it is very difficult to own self defense firearms. Hunt rifles are not so difficult

Thanks for your nice words

All the best
