Texas Blue Devil416 Rigby on a Brevex Action???
I recently saw a custom 416 Rigby on a Brevex Mauser Action. It belongs to a friend of a friend, and the gentleman may sell it. I didn't shoot it, only got to hold it. It seemed like a really nice rifle.
I don't really know anything about the Brevex action. Can anyone enlighten me??
I really don't need another 416, but it sure was nice.
Thanks!!!

Magnum Mauser "copy".
True magnum length Mauser action made in France in the early 50's on Mauser factory machinery after the factory was dismantled by the Allies at the end of the war. These were imported to the United States by Tradewinds of Tacoma,WA.
The M300 has the .375 bolt face. The M400 had the .416 bolt face.
Worth buying if the price is right, needed or not.
Do a google search, quite a bit of info out there.

Michael RobinsonThe Brevex was a highly sought action at one time, when there was little else to be found that was CRF and could handle the truly big rounds. Still a nice find, either by itself, or built into a well made rifle.

ColoradoMattThe Brevex magnum mauser action is longer overall than the Oberndorf magnum, the guard screw spacing is longer, the front ring diameter is a little wider, and the magazine length is a little longer. The barrel shank diameter is the same.

Galaxy FlyerJack O'Connor's 416 Rigby was built on a Brevex Mauser. What's the chance?

I read of him having one built on a 1917 Enfeild action. I'm not saying he didn't have one built on a Brevex as well.

It is shown/described in several of his books & magazine articles. It was for sale at the Tulsa show about 15 years ago for $7K, built by
Al Biesen. You can still have a stock profiled by
Roger Biesen using O'Connor's pattern.

Mine is a .378 Weatherby. Biebs might recognize the scope.

NakihunterIf the action was made on Mauser design & machines, why no square bridge?
"When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."
24 March 2013, 11:34
grandveneurToday all Mauser magnum action's have a double square bridge . Before there was action's with and action's without . The typical design of the Brevex action is without . Why , i dont know ! May be a need only for working guns without scopes in our colonies , it's possible !
The story of the Brevex action is not very clear . They were built in the confusion shortly after the WW II .
Not all Magnum actions had Square Bridges.
My Gibbs doesn't and that is an original
Magnum Mauser.

Don't think Brownells has offered those for a while.

fla3006I prefer pre-war British style stock, more like the Francotte above, otherwise nice enough.
