Can anyone out there help me with information on and possibly a diagram drawing of the 475 Rigby, at least that is what I have heard it called. It may be the same as the 470 MBOGO I do not know. All I am really sure of is that is uses large Rigby basic brass (like that used for 416 & 450) and that is necked, in a size die, to accept a 475 bullet. Appreciate any and all information. Zedman, The 470 Mbogo is a 475 Rigby Improved in that the shoulder was pushed forward and at an improved angle. You can read about it at www.470mbogo.com if you want more detail. 470 Mbogo let me play with his 470...It is a very sweet big bore cartridge! Here is a picture of the "Rigby Family". From left to right is the 416 Rigby, 450 Rigby and the 470 Mbogo. You can see the improved shoulder on the Mbogo quite clearly.
Saeed also has experimented with the 475 Rigby. Check out the Reloading Pages (go back to www.accuratereloading.com) and scroll down the 475 calibres. Canuck

Thanks for the reply and especially the picture. I guess I'm making this harder than it really is. I had read the 470 MBOGO info. the other day and guess I forgot about the shoulder being pushed forward. I'm probably getting into more gun than I really need. I'm sure the 450 Rigby/Dakota will do all I need and be more practical. Man those 500 grain .475 dia. bullets sure are impressive though! "Z"

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Zedman: Hi Zedman, I keep the 470 Mbogo loaded to 2500 fps which keeps the pressures down. I start with 416 Rigby brass in the cylindrical form which allows the shoulder to be formed a little further forward. There is a 416/475 that just opens the Rigby case up to take the .475 bullets without any further changes. I don't know the dimensions of the 475/416 improved that Saeed worked with. The Mbogo is 2.4800 to the shoulder and an overall brass length of 2.9450 if this helps you. 470 Mbogo
