I was looking at the Double Tap web page and they have a 416 Rem offering with a 450 gr Woodleigh @ 2325 FPS. Normas Offering with the same bullet is about 2100 FPS and over twice the price.
I have heard it said on these forums that it is not good to push the Woodleghs over 2100-2200 FPS due to over expansion.
I have had good luck with the Double Tap ammo I have recently acquired.
Any comments on pushing the Woodleighs at over 2200 FPS before I decide to try some?

If the bullet is rated for a RIV of 2200 fps,
and then you push it above this, then of course you are likely to get over expansion.

If a bullet is rated to 2400 fps, then it would be fine.

However, the 450gn 416 bullet is rated to 2200 fps.

I have used their bullets and pushed the envelope, they still work and kill well
but you get what you ask for.

It also depends on the bullet as to where the RIV is so always worth looking it up.

IMHO, that would have some serious pressure issues. The factory is a 400gr at 2400+/-fps. Increasing the bearing surface and weight that much would be interesting to say the least. Various posts here indicate that anything over 2150 MV is excess. Do they list pressure?

Well, I agree re the need to go that fast. the bullet weight alone will give
superb penetration.

But, if people want to bust their shoulders, let them.

But the bullet isn't rated for that velocity anyway.

Based on my experience, the Woodleigh impact velocity limits are real and must be taken seriously.

There is no pressure data available on the double tap web page.
After reviewing some of their published data on other cartridges, they average 50-100 FPS higher than typical from other MFG's. Similar to the HE loadings from Federal.
I have shot their 300 gr failsafe load in a 375 H&H and it did chrono 2600 and change through my model 70. which is as advertised and it was very accurate as well. I saw no signs of pressure. Perhaps they have some access to "OFF THE SHELF"
propellants.
The 450 Woodleigh did seem high @ 2325 ??? I think I will stick with the 400's; from all indications on this forum, a good 416, 400 gr @ 2400 fps will just about out penetrate anything.

The 450 gr. bullets would need to be going 2262 fps to get the same muzzle energy. So going 2325 fps is just a bit of a boost.

Sounds good to me. Makes a 416 Rem (or Rigby) more awesome.

Probably because they are pumped into animals to determine the RIV.

Having never tried this particular brand of ammo, this is probably a "risky" post. However with some other manufacturers higher energy loads in my 338 Win Mag, I found extraction a bit stiff. I would be cautious about taking something like that to Africa (or outback Australia for that matter) as the temperature may push pressures higher than you want, and the last thing you want is to struggle to open the bolt when you really need a fast second shot at a buff.
