Gentlemen, Wayne Doudna's name comes up as a supplier of large bore cast bullets. I emailed him and asked him if he could do some in 0.620". This is his reply. He is currently trying to find a sizer and gas checks. His website www.customcastbullets.com Obviosuly, if there were enough interest he would carry the bullets. I know there are several here who are on their way towards a .600 OK. Here is the chance to buy into some good reloading supplies. I have posted his reply to my question here. hi again roger! did some research! both nei and lbt sound like their in >buisness again! N.E.I. has a .622 900gr. round with flat but they do not >make gas checks for a bullet that size!(but it could be done)..and no one >puts out a sizer that size also! (and i suppose that could be done >also, maybe!) L.B.T. on the other hand could make any size i want but then >again we run into the same promblems of gas checks and sizing! I can do some >more research and see if these things are possible and usually i made a deal >with the customer on any particular caliber he would pay for the mould in >return for some bullets just in case you might be interested in something >else in the futher! anyway i'll do some more research! best regards [ 05-07-2003, 18:29: Message edited by: Roger Rothschild ]

I would be interested. I think an outfit called Bear Tooth has a 1040 grain cast .622 bullet. Is anyone interested in something heavier than 900 grains? Maybe 1200 grains would be about right. Bear Tooth's .622 1040 grainer is here: http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/index.htm [ 05-07-2003, 19:26: Message edited by: 500grains ]

You are correct. I have a box of Beartooth bullets, you will wait six (6) months for your order though, they are very good bullets, and they are very booked up.

Roger, I would be interested in getting some made. I think Rob was working on one awhile back. If we could get enough people interested the costs for tooling/sizing(gas checks) will be lower. Hopefully there are enough interested. Even some plain base bullets would be nice in reduced loads (and HEAVY bullets). I won't have my 600Ok for awhile, but I know I will be wanting to pick up some supplies. PS: Have you tried the beartooths? I was thinking about ordering some, but should have done it a few months ago. It took 6 months last time I ordered there.

Gas check making dies are available from Corbin's http://www.corbins.com/gascheck.htm but they cost quite a bit, an alternative would be poly, cardboard, or fiber wads. Fred A. Cornell of Custom Shooting Accessories, RD2-14 Stover Acres. Sayre, PA 18840, (717) 888-9236, makes a nice reloading press wad punch. The largest I have is 58 cal but I see no reason a .620 size could not be made. I understand Lee will make custom bullet sizing dies that fit in a standard reloading press for $25 http://www.leeprecision.com Have also seen this die on the web http://members.aol.com/DuctMan249/WTA.html but have not used it or the Lee. Would need to pan lube if using these dies. Paper patch bullets would work well at 600 Nitro Express velocities and RCE makes nice paper patch dies http://www.rceco.com/bulletlead.htm [ 05-08-2003, 01:21: Message edited by: Copper Country ]
