I concur with most here, they are a best buy in big bore's. I have had a .375 and a .458lott. The .375 found its way down the road, it was a little too heavy for my taste, but for someone that is recoil sensative or thinks that a .375 is a big gun it would of been perfect. I have only shot 4 different examples of RSM's 2x.375, 1x Lott and 1x .338win but all 4 were scary accurate.

The Lott is here to stay- wicked accurate and has just the right weight- its easy to shoot, kicks like a pussy cat- and kills stuff dead, right here, right now.

It may be heresy to many here but when I hunted elephants my heym .470 double stayed home and the lott came along for the trip.... that's how much I like it and how much confidence I have in it.

I have polled 4 buffalo about the lott and the consensus there was that buffalo don't like it at all Big Grin

I have a NIB .458 Lott with incredible wood I may be interested in parting with.

Anyone interested?

Hi Boss,
My rings are Warne qd's
They seem to work very well- stay tight, recoil seems to make them tighter. I usually have to use an empty casing or something along those lines to loosen them off after shooting the gun a bit. So far they have held up to the lott very well.

I have never had a problem with them returning to zero either. They come highly recommended by me.

Bryan-put up some pictures?

I think the new Ruger Hawkeye African is about the ultimate Big bore factory rifle..I have had two special runs with classic gloss blue that is awesome for a factory rifle, one in a 9.3x62 that I sold, and another in a .338 that I still have. They are the best thing since the pre 64 Win, mod. 98 Mauser, or sliced white bread. I like the .375 Ruger in this model but it has a bead blast finish thats a little corse IMO..I dislike beadblast finish although it is pretty, the pits hold moisture and tend to rust in humid African climes and snow and rain in Idaho..just my opine on finishes.

For the money the Rugers are damn hard to beat. I can't wait for the African model to come out in the .416 Ruger caliber..

Yes, the are very accurate. I had mine steel bedded and a trigger job done as well.

A bit heavy, but helps the recoil. I think it needs to be about 1-1.5 lbs lighter in 375, maybe 1/2 - 1 lb lighter in the Rigby, and the Lott is just about right.

To clarify, the only work I had done before hunting in Africa was the new recoil pad. The trigger job and steel bedding happened after my first trip. I killed seven animals on that trip, including a 44.25" Buff, longest shot was 350 yards on a Lechwe (scope on 5X). The only time I decided to pass on a shot because of the factory trigger was a Bushbuck at 250 yards in some really thick stuff. Decided to stalk up and he busted us and ran.

I've got one in 375 and love it. I admit it is too heavy for the caliber but makes prone shots reasonable. I had the bolt jeweled, trigger cleaned up, and a red rubber pad installed along with a 1.5x6 Zeiss. Mines taken a couple of brown bears and a bison.

Also don't overlook the Ruger Express on the used gun market. Same gun, wood, integral rib, etc, but on a standard length action in 270, 300W (NOT 300 H&H Frowner) 30-06, and 338 at about 7.5lb. I've got a 30-06 version to match my 375 that loves 220 Hornady roundnoses and looks like a proper African gun. One of the best factory offerings in the last few decades in my opinion.
