I just bought a used .458 Win Mag, and now I'm trying to find brass for it. The only stuff I can find is either from Norma or A-Square. I know that this is high quality brass, but it's a little expensive for just playing around with. Does anyone know of another source for .458 Win Mag brass?

It would actually be cheaper to buy the Hornady .458 Lott brass and trim it down. Is there anyone doing that?

If I were going to actually hunt DG with this rifle, then I'd buy nothing but the best. But since this rifle will see more use against raccoons and other less than threatening game, premium brass doesn't seem entirely neccesary.

You can buy bulk brass made by Winchester.

Try Graffs, Mid South Shooters Supply, and Midway.

Last price I saw was about $20-$22 per hundred plus shipping.

Midway and Grafs were out of .458WM brass when I needed some earlier this summer. I found .458WM brass available at http://www.huntingtons.com Comparable prices and shipping costs, I recall.

Might want to recheck with Midway and Grafs.

Sorry, I just checked and most of my sources are currently sold out.

Also, the price I gave you was for 50 cases, not 100.

I appologize for the mistake.

andy,

To the best of my knowledge, Winchester only makes a limited run of 458win brass per year for commercial sale. I'm unsure when during the year this is shipped out, but I believe we are now between production runs and most everything is drying up.

Hornady makes basic belted mag brass and there are a couple of foreign imports. I'm unsure what else is out there.

Winchester's next run is scheduled in spring of '06. Current stocks disappeared in early June (I'm afraid I got into a little hoarding behavior when I noticed it happening -- sorry about that).

I remember earlier this year when .458 brass was hard to find, so bought a little extra for just this reason...

I didn't realize it was THIS easily dried-up though, perhaps W-W will realize they need to make more of it. Perhaps the .458WM is more popular than it once was or is this a perpetual problem annually?

LS&B has Winchester .458 Win currently listed as "in stock." Better hurry because when the others see this they will likely buy it up if they actually have any. clap

I live in Sweden, but I usually allways buy my brass from Buffalo Arms. I have to pay tax for them then they arrive to sweden. It´s much cheaper anyway compared to buy from sweden. Usually I buy 500 each time and the cost is below 5:- (kronor). Just call them. You can get their number on their homepage

I have bought a couple of bags off of some of the gun auction sites with good success. Usually around 20$ for 50 pcs of WW. Auctionarms or gunbroker usually have some. Sometimes even ebay.

best of luck
