Well, you are a newbie here, so if you want to leave no one is stopping you. What I mean is simply this, you haven't been here long enough to know who is legitimate and who is a troll / wishful thinker.

However, I would reconsider if I were you. Your biggest problem seems to be your inability to tell a troll from a legitimate poster. I will give you a hint, I am NOT a troll. I am not Mr. Popularity, but I am NO troll.

I think urdubob is talking about the troll wars. Regardless of who or who isn't a troll I get fed up with the troll wars my self. I left the forums once because of it & I think there are others who feel the same way. I don't think urdubob is a newbie. He has been registered since March 2002. This troll war garbage has to stop or there will be more people leaving and the big bore forum should get labeld "Troll Wars". I am not making any accusations on who is or isn't a troll. I am just saying "IT IS TIME FOR IT TO STOP". If people want to fight they can take it somwhere else.

I agree wholeheartedly! It is far past time that the "troll wars" stopped! They are a complete waste of everyone's time, with the possible exception of the trolls.

I termed him a newbie, because I have been here for 4 years, he is only a middle aged to me. There are others who still post here that would call me a newbie. Sadly, many of the oldest (and in many cases) best posters no longer post here.

I myself, have both limited my posting in this forum and have been working on my shop, getting ready to try and turn out some new toys....

Since I have those i KNOW to be trolls on ignore, my stress level has decreased.... but, you know, I am concerned about the disinformation being posted, i hear.

one turd in the pool, and everyone jumps out... when there's one person doing that ALL the time, it's not a pool, it's a cesspit

To give up is to let the twits win.

Other than aggravation, the only real damage they can do is with dangerous information ... we ought to note that only and move on.

Otherwise, the bad buys will simply follow us as they know they have gotten our goats!

You don't have to leave here, but do go join
nitroexpress.com, as they have a big bore forum, and
you can talk over there when it's screwy here. And
and the trolls, troll hunters, bad tempered, etc, won't
be put up with there.Ed.

urdubob,

Put the dickless twits on 'ignore'. It works wonders.

The only reason they post at all is to elicit some sort of response, and therefore attention.

The ignore button is great! It has made AR much more enjoyable for me. If more of us used it instead of reacting to the social misfits who can't relate in the real world then the problem would solve itself. They are after your reaction, nothing more, it validates them. Sad I know, but the're not my problem to fix. If you take the bait, then you become the problem.

How do we access it? It might do the trick but they could just change their name and come back. There is one poster on the misc. forum who appears to have done that.

Just click on the users name to the left of their post. That will bring up their user profile. Towards the bottom of the screen there will be an "Ignore this user" link. Just click on it.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the comments. We do have a nice double rifle orientated forum plus all the usual ones too.

I enjoy posting at AR too and the IGNORE button works wonders. About the only thing that works with them.

Why do you need the IGNORE feature. What compels you to read and respond to what you do not like.

Why do you need www.NitroExpress.com to remove the trolls for you.

Why are those people who complain so much about trolls also the most prolific responders to trolls and in addition why are they driven to start threads about trolls.

I've noticed one fellow hopping around to different forums here on AR. So far no one has responded to the "dude". I could be wrong, but I think they would wither on the vine if everyone would just ignore them. I used to believe that they were just jerks messing with people. Now I wonder if they don't have more sinister intentions. Like the collapse of the entire website. Don't respond to them and they will see they can't do any harm.

Just one man's opinion.

-Since you and the multiple-personality clown intrude on many threads, even when you don't have anything positive to add, the ignore software allows folks to avoid being exposed to your nonsense (it's like drawing your shades when some drunk has passed out under your windows).

-If www.nitroexpress.com keeps the jackasses off the boards and out of the discussions, it may be worth it to check it out. You and the multiple-personality clown have worked tirelessly to ruin THIS site.

-Folks are fed up with having idiots muck around with a decent discussion forum for their own childish amusement.

I think these guys have as much chance ignoring trolls as the fat guy at school had ignoring bullies(eh NitroX )

The trolls have really upset them and the ignore feature is a way to re empower themselves.

Not much point having a weapon if no one knows you have it.

Which is why we have sporadic charges with the 'ignore feature' brandished high- to prove they are ignoring...

If Urdubob had any brains he would have realised that the main troll was petering out. ScottS could not get the troll hunters to bite, and even his fake data threads, 'phase 2' were only getting very minimal replies.

Now we have a thread started here putting him back in top spot. The activity on the other troll threads has picked up as a result.
And we can hardly get a post in with all the IGNORERS charging in to save us

Please give at least one example of where I have contributed to a Big Bore thread whereby I don't have anything positive to add....I am of course excluding troll type threads which the troll haters love to contribute to and of course start threads on.

It does appear that the troll haters want to start the forum war again. I guess the troll haters got bored

Well, you can be acommodated!!!!!

Looks like GeorgeS needs to put back his signature line.

It just does not seem right to deprive you troll haters of some troll type activity. You fucking love it

Yes but a problem here CPS was proven that a lot of the ignorers keep peeking through the shades.

The 'draw shades feature' suffers the same drawbacks as the 'ignore feature' in that it allows manual over ride.

So the stupidest object in the equation is not eliminated.

In fact the way they charge in here 'ignoring' the analogy would be like they pack up their shades, and go walking down the street to find a drunk to ignore them with

Gentlemen,

This is becoming as silly as those "letters to the editors" some people write to threaten of cancelling their subscription to a magazine because they published something they did not like.

The difference here is that this threat cannot work for obvious reasons.

WE like all of you to think of these forums as belonging to us all, to further our enjoyment collectively.

We would also like to ask you all to be a litte bit more tolerant of your fellow members. You really do not have to answer every post written.

At the end of the day, you are welcome should you wish to participate in our discussions, and if you choose to go somewhere else, that is your previlege, and we wish you the best of luck.

No hard feelings from our side whatsoever, as my own feeling is we cannot have too many forums like these. It makes me sad to hear of any shooting related forum being closed down.

Well said Saeed!
Obviously I haven't been around here for so long. But I have read a whole LOT of old posts by using the search function. I have to say that so far all this troll talk is a bigger annoyance to me than the actual trolls are. It has to be up to each member to decide which persons to have belief in or which to ignore.

/Johan

Does responding to an inane comment like "a 45-70 has all the stopping power of a 20 gauge slug" make you a troll?

Respectfully,
The fact that you think the 45/70 with cast bullets is the correct choice for hunting: cape buffalo, elephant, Rhino, Lion. DOES THAT MAKE YOU A TROLL?

urdubob,

I repeat: put the idiots, liars, and pot-stirring twits on 'ignore'. It works beautifully.

They are going to post their drivel whether they are welcome or not. It may go against a truthful man's nature not to challenge their bullshit and uninformed opinions, but they are only here to annoy, not edify.

Fuck'em.

I think Saeed and GeorgeS have said it best. The only way a troll lives is by someone listening to them and replying. Now, if you cannot tell a troll from a serious member, the problem is yours. All I can say is good luck, once they run you off here, you will not last long anywhere.

Saeed,

I'm not leaving the forums. I deeply appreciate the tremendous gift you have given all of us.

However, I feel no need to allow myself to be subjected to childish name calling, outright lying, gratuitous profanity, etc. It simply isn't necessary. So, I'm using the ignore function.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I do notice a lot of similarities from one ignorable poster to the next. All curse, call people names, assault their religious beliefs, etc. None attempt to use logic, reason, facts, respect, and other good attributes of entertaining, mentally challenging, thought provoking conversation. I long ago learned that the person who attempts to make an argument using name calling and profanity as the prime features of their "argument" has no argument or is so ignorant as to be unworthy of my time.

While these posters may find great entertainment value in posting, it does not follow that I need to likewise find any value in their inanity.

I would also like to mention, in this vein, a pet peeve of mine. That is posters who attempt to post in a "distinctive" dialect. Not just for a small portion of a post as when one uses a voice charactiture to make a point, but in one whole post after another. It is tiring and counter-productive.

Again, thanks for the forums and have a wonderful day.

My friend that seems to have a problem with me please do the following:

Check out the Reminton web site... 15 foot pounds differance in energy.

I picked the two standads to compare the 405 grain 45/70 and the 5/8 oz. 2 3/4 rifled slug.

The 45/70 and the 20 guage slug are almost interchangable.

Yes, you can Hype up the 45/70 with more power...but you can also hype up 20 slug with Barnes bullets and more power.

Both these are fine for deer and black bear...but they will never, never, ever be an African big game cartidge.

I own two 45/70s. I like to shoot them. They are not for hunting big game in Africa. We have so many better tools to use that the 45/70.

I can only figure that you hate or dislike me for some joke or post I have made in the past..if so I AM SORRY. You may be a personal friend of Mr Garret (HE MAKES GREAT AMMO FOR NORTH AMERICA). I know you are proud of your 45/70 use it and be happy.

I hope to have proved I am not full of BS as you put it.

Once more your humble servant,

urdubob
