icehunter121460 wby reduced loads
Can any one help? I am looking for reduced cast loads in the 460 wby. Bullet of choice is either a 350 or 500 grain slug. Any help will be greatly appreciated..regards..Dennis..

500grainsYou can do what most of us do with the cavernous Nitro Express cases. Start without about 30 grains of XMP5744 powder and work up.
Alternatively, you can fill the case with H5010 BMG powder which is so slow that it will not all burn and will not generate a lot of velocity.

RangerBobThe 500gr RCBS GC mold throws a 525gr bullet when cast out of wheel weights.
This bullet has been VERY accurate out of my .458WM.
Give it a try.

fla3006I load 50 grains XMP5744 behind 530gn cast lead gas checks in my 510Wells (460 necked up to 510), a little less than half the case, generates about 1630fps. I also load 45 grains in my 458Lott with various cast bullets. I'd start with about 40 grains. You don't need a filler.

starbuckI am loading 40 gr of xmp 5744 behind a 350 gr 416 bullet in a Rigby(same size case as 460 Weatherby). Very mild and an accurate practice round.XMP 5744 is an ideal powder for these loads.

jeffeossolooks for 450 rigby loading info, as it's a 460 weatherby, without a belt, loaded to sane pressure.
