McSternTurn a 7mm Wby Mag Mk V into a .404?
Hi Guys,
I seem to miss the relevant information:
Would it be possible to re-barrel my MkV (it's 7mm Wby. mag) with a .404 Jeff. barrel?
Would the system length be adequate?
thanks for your help
M.

theback40Should be long enough, as it's the same action they put the 378 and 460 in. I cant remember, is the magbox a straight line feed? or is that only the 378/460?

PoppaWI have thought this and put 3 404's into my 7mm mag to see. Looks like it would work great. Some 7mm's have a mag filler to shorten the mag, mine doesn't. If you have this you will need to remove it and then lengthen the bolt stop groove in the bottom of the action. As always it may need feeding worked on.
I tried the 460 mag also and the 404 is real skinny in that one. Could be modded to work.

AtkinsonIt will work just fine..Most all need some tweeking and your will need magazine work etc. That's a big ole action and takes the 416 Rigby and 416 WBY, both larger cases than the 404 Jefferys.
