sight blade don't fit

So my #6 front sight blade for the CZ arrives from Toronto (London Arms), quick service, no problems there. Only the darn thing doesn't fit. It's just a tad too long. Gotta round up those rat tail files to deepen the curve, and a regular one to shorten the pieces where the curvature ends. Jee, I wish I could explain that better.

Anybody experience the same? I could of course send it back, but what is to say the next one *will* fit.

Will do. The safety worked out just fine, what more challenges can a front sight blade bring.

the sight insert will be a tad over sized.. this is intentional.. i generally tap them in, if it's not too bad...

400grit sandpaper backed with a file ON THE INSERT will do the trick

Oh, intentional, eh? OK, sanding it is. I tried gentle tapping, but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks.

Take a 3 corner file and cut the sight itself to fit..sandpaper will take forever...make a few strokes and try, it should be very tight btw..Brownells makes a file just for that, it will cut either the dovetail on the sight itself or the dovetail on the rifle, Has a dead side so it only cuts where its supposed to.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ray. The misfit however was on the semi-round cut-out, where the springloaded knob is supposed to come-up and hold the blade in. Or if you want, on the other side, the curved front sight (in plain terms, the darn thing was too long). It did take rather long with sanding paper, I agree. Couldn't find my round files though.

I find jewelers file set particularly useful for such tasks.

I use swiss jewelers files also. GO SLOWLY. You can always take a wee bit more off but you can't put any back on!
