Well I just picked up my second big bore barrel for my AR.
It is in the .458 Socom.
I already have a .50 Beowulf.

I have a switch barrel upper so swap barrel and bolt and you are good to go.

Will post details after I play this weekend.

Should be fun. Should be able to make her sing with all the bullet choice's.

The socom's (375 and 458) are interesting to me. I'd like to add another upper to my AR at some point, probably will be one of those two. Looking forward to your reports.

Personally I went the 450 Bushmaster. A 250 grain bullet at 2100 fps is respectable medicine for pigs and I liked the trajectory just a bit more than the Beo or SoCom.

Range time with factory Hornady stuff gave me 1.5" groups with a fix 6x scope.

They are all hoot and half to shoot!

I like my .458 socom... got 2... 1 is a RRA ar-15, the other is a rebarreled howa 1500... it need some feed work to make it feed....

I don't know about the Beo but my SOCOM has fed every cartridge I fed it. Both factory and handloaded. That's 250 gr to 500+ gr. I intend on getting 500 gr suppressed.

Shot it with some factory fodder.
300 HP.
I think it will be great pig medicine.

Very nice. How's the blast with the brake on that short barrel?

Pretty brutal.
I like the looks of the tank style brakes.
But that is it.
Probably try find A2 style flash hider.
When my can gets out of NFA jail it will be smooth sailing.

Bowers Vers50 with SS core upgrade.
Good for my 50 BW and 458 Socom and I may try it on one of my 45/70 lever guns.

Have a RRA 458 SOCOM as well. I use he 405gr R-P bullets for close in work and either the 300 gr. Nosler BT or 325 Hornady FTX bullets if I need to extend the distance. Really amazed at the delivered accuracy delivered by this rifle.

Where did you get the 1911 grip?

I'm waiting on an Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf upper. I went with the same Manticore hand guard, but didn't go with the "tank brake". I went with the Millennium Compensator instead.

I've got a Tromix .458 SOCOM (thanks, Tony!).

I'm waiting for the imminent release of the suppressor I bought for real load development.

I went with the 450
Bushmaster...though it would be easier to deal with brass/dies/etc...NOT...SOCOM has dies/brass etc at Midway...Bushmaster is a bit behind on pieces and parts but coming up fast...ballistics are pretty much identical...

You can order a 450 B custom Lee FCD from the company, works great AND you really need one...Fury makes excellent cannelured, serrated, bonded, pointy bullets in .452, .458 AND other cals...single feed follower will turn any 223 mag into a feeding fool with minor work with a Dremel and a bit of fiddling with the mag lips...MUCH cheaper than buying a special 450 B mag...Fulton Armory has that brake plus all the pieces and parts you need to build uppers as do Midway, Brownells and a ton of other AR parts providers.

The biggest advantage with the SOCOM is that it uses .458 rifle bullets. There is loading data for supersonic and 510 gr.subsonic bullets. I used hard 400 drain flat nosed bullets to whack an Asian water buffalo at an exotic game ranch in Florida. Later that day, I hit a pig right between the eyes and made them bulge way out. It's a fun gun and quite efficient.
