Hopefully here ar some pics of my "Whitworth"... It may be a "parts" gun. It has "Whitworth Rifle Company" on the barrel, "Whitworth" on the recoil pad, but only "Mark X" on the reciever. The serial # is 2500xx. Did they make any without the reciever marked?? SC

Thanks, The pics really don't do the wood justice. It has really a really nice snaking grain under the checkering in the forearm. Sorry - It's a - .375 H&H The only thing it has "wrong" is the forend tip is loose. Any fixes?? SC

Nice rifle, thanks for posting. They are rightfully popular around here. Here's a fairly informative discussion thread that took place awhile back: WhitworthEvaluationTips NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

Very nice rifle, on the forend, any competent gunsmith can fix that issue. While he is fixing that have him put on a three position Winchester style safety then call it good. IMO the safety is not positive enough. "An individual with experience is never at the mercies of an individual with an argument"

If it is loose take the opportunity to replace it with real ebony. The stock looks like very nice wood. ~Ann

One question....will a 3 position safety still lock the bolt handle down?? SC

Take the stock off and visit your local carpenter or cabinet maker. They will have a whole head full of solutions. Usually a good animal hoove based glue will fix it for good. Just take care in removing the forend "tip". Maybe a "biscuit" that Norm from New Yankee Workshop is so fond of?
