Has anyone worked up a load for the 416 Ruger with 350Gr Barnes bullets? For that matter - has anyone find load data for the 416 Ruger yet?

I've been really happy with mine, and either of the 400 grain factory loads. I have my dies, Rel 15, and the 350 Barnes-X ready to load but was waiting for a little nicer weather.

Here's an article you might enjoy.

20" barrel.....all 400 grain RN Hornady

H-335......69.5 gr......2200 FPS
Varget.....68.1 gr......2150 FPS
IMR-4320...69.0 gr......2150 FPS
Viht N-140.71.3 gr......2150 FPS
Win 748....75.3 gr......2250 FPS
Rl-15......75.5 gr......2250 FPS
Big Game...76.2 gr......2200 FPS
Win 760....80.8 gr......2250 FPS
AA-2700....79.2 gr......2150 FPS

How conservative this data is from Hornady I'm not certain.....I have personally loaded 83 Gr of Win 760 for 2400 FPS.....no signs of trouble at all......damn uncomfortable to shoot however....kicks like a Missouri mule!

If your looking for a place to start.....

Use conservative 416 Rem Mag data and work up.

I'm using a mid charge 416 Rem Mag load of powder behind a 340 Woodleigh and pressures are fine.

I reload for my 416 with 500gr bullets. My 416 isn't a ruger, its a REMINGTON. I use RL15 for its loads.

Mine should arrive soon - thought I would start researching handloads.. Barnes has their 350GR X-Bullets in their closeout section for $28.00 for 50 - shoudl be a great bullet for plains game, bear, groundhogs... :-)

I will probably wait for better weather as well!
