Well, I have been bitten by the .577 bug. After buying some 577 T-Rex brass, dies and some loaded ammo off E-Bay, I am ready to order the cannon. I called A-Square and they sent me pricing info, a sheet for my measurements, Etc. The order is going in tomorrow. Yeah, I know some here don't like the A-Square stocks, but I have one Hannibal in 338 A-Square and I like their rifles. I will probably not ever use this thing as recoil will be unmanageable, at least for a follow up shot. But I have this thing for BIG bore rifles. I will post later on delivery time for the rifle.

i would use it for hunting if you cant handle full steam recoil load it to 577 nitro ballistics so keep it aroind 2100 fps instead of 2400+

470 fan don't beleive all that about unmageabale recoil. The good thing about the fast 585's is they can be loaded anyway you want. Yes you can load it up to be faster and more penetrating than the 600 OK with a 750 at 2600fps+. And make it the flattest shooting ultra large bore with the new 750gn spitzer x-bullet.

However with a 585 you can play with reduced loads like a 458 lott or 375 H&H does with lever action bullets.

Similar recoil as a 458 lott in fact by using the Hawk 560gns, woodleigh 650 blackpowders which will expand at only 1500fps etc.
And for heavy game the woodleigh 650gn nitro bullets in SP and FMJ config which kill buffalo fine. One Aussie took quite a bit of game inlcuding buff with his '577 light nitro' double using these bullets.

Gee Karl,
It is nice to know that T.rex shooters have options besides the whiplash, muzzle rise, and torque control issues.

470FAN,
Don't feel to guilty over your pleasures. Remember that big bore rifles make more sense and are safer to their users than motorcycles. Wink

My limit is the 500A2, but if I were younger, and made of what I used to be made of ... beer

Big Grin RIP I hate the way you say the 585 is too much for you yet you shot better groups on your first go than most ever will. We are trying to look like exclusive masters of the domain here..

Actually the way I see the 585's is as Mike375 predicted a while back it will take second place to the 600OK for the guy who wants a 'stopper' on the rack with one stopping load in mind.He might as well go for the biggest.

On the other hand there will always be a group of who see the ultra large bores as just another overgrown 375 to play with.

For that purpose the 585's can be tweaked more in very direction than the 600-which is still pretty much a one trick pony "the 900 grain bullet at 2100-2400fps"
