Does anyone know where I can get cartridge headspace gauges for 470NE and 416 Rigby? I finally got a copy of the Art Alphin book and he says that simply putting the die down on the shell holder may cause me to push the shoulder back too far. I haven't been able to find these from Midway, Brownell's, or Grafs.

Marty, With the rim on the 470NE, this is not a big issue. It headspaces on the rim. Not that you want to set the shoulder back every reload, but it doesn't cause dangerous headspace problems. JPK Free 500grains

Thanks. Had I used my failing brain, it would have occured to me that this doesn't apply to rimmed cartridges. Just shows you need to think inside the right box. Now about that 416.....

Pacific Tool and Gauge (http://www.pacifictoolandgauge.com/products/gaugesnbushings/gauges.htm#head)and Clymer (http://www.clymertool.com/headspac/index.html)both have the gauges available. If you just want to rent them, try Elk Ridge (http://www.reamerrentals.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=276). "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people.
