I know I have seen the barrel specs listed somewhere
in the 550 mag update posts but I cannot find them
so if someone good point me in the right direction
I would be thankful.

Will be offered by Mike Scherz of Gila River Gunworks. The barrels will be machined with intergral recoil lug and designed for the custom quarter rib. The custom taper on the barrel is designed for a barrel banded swivel and banded front sight fit from 22"-26" barrel lenght. **************************************************This will same several hundred dollars in labor for you gunsmith

I was wanting to know if it was going to be a 6 grove barrel.
what the twist rate was going to be
what the bore size was going to be before and after
groving .So I could see if I had a barrel that could be rebored instaed of buying a new one
thats the specs I was asking for

Groove diameter is .550, land diameter is .540. Dan is redoing a .510 barrel to .550 for me and twist and grooves
can be had in what you want.Ed.

You will need a minium muzzle dia of .800" which is .125" wall thickness.

my barrel is 6 grove 1-18" twist. Ed has the rest right.

I think all 458 to 510 heavy barrels should be made 550.
It is a caliber that is going to catch on.
Mine is an inch at the muzzle, and am getting 1-22 twist.
My case is huge( holds 190 gr of ball powder) so it stll will have plenty of speed and spin. Ed.

I got my 100 550 MAG bullets in. They are the thin
jacket 600 grains.Heres pic of one in my 550HE next to a
458 Win,and two of the bullets, Ed
