Here are some of the available .475 caliber bullets. Missing are the Hawk and Barnes originals. What others do you know of? From left to right they are.
500 Woodleigh soft point, cast 500 grain paper patch (LBT mold), Swift 500 grain soft point, 500 grain Barnes solid, 500 grain Woodleigh solid,500 grain Barnes X, 540 Bridger custom and the 500 grain GS custom. All sit loaded in 470 Mbogo cases.

Boy, those Bridger 540grainers do look nasty don't they!! I have tried to order some, but Fritz is working on the BATF and State Dept. to export them to Canada.

I sure hope Fritz is able to sort something pout with the boy at the BATF because he has one hell of a good bullet design and I would really like to be able to access them freely. I reached 2389 fps which works out to 2400 fps actual muzzle velocity without a problem and they really hit hard. They are going to be the solids that I take to Africa. I just have to figure out which soft will shoot to the same POI.

I believe Barnes also has/had a 600gr. bullet in their 'Original' line.

What about the Speer and Hornady bullets designed for the .475 Linebaugh/.480 R-ugh-er?

I use the 400gr. Speers for 'plunking'.

I've found that they all feed good. I like the 500 Swift A=Frame for the soft point. The Woodleighs are not designed for 470 Mbogo velocities but are good for shooting fun. They include a note that the max impact velocity should be 2200 fps. I really like the Bridger solid as well as the GS customs. The bridger would probablly get the nod due to availability and the fact that they do not mushroom when driven hard. I'm not really keen on moly coatings either which the GS customs come with. There probably isn't much difference other than that between them. I like the .410 flat meplate with fairly sharp edges with the Bridger bullets.

Great site but it's scaring me. I've looked there before and wondered what it would cost to get set up. By the time you got it just the way you wanted it you probably could have bought two lifetimes worth of Swift A-Frames. That's why I cast for my big bores.

I remember searching for bullets when I was first doing research on 585's- slow process in the pre internet days.
At the time Star was making hunting bullets up to and including 585, and Thunderbird in homogenous solids up to 585.

Also trying to remember the brand Mitch used in his 577 t.rex 'naval ordnance' or something..

Don't suppose any of these are still available for your 475?

For the 470 NE:
Woodleigh soft and FMJ. GSC FN is the prefered solid that is easy on the bores. All 500 grainers.

For the 470 Mbogo, my picks (all 500 grainers):
Swift A-Frame
Barnes XLC
GSC FN ... and Bridgers if I can't get GSC.
