Texas Blue Devil450 Dakota vs 450 Rigby
I have been looking for a 450 Rigby for the past year, but haven't found anything to my liking. However, I have stumbled across a real nice 450 Dakota that I like a lot. I realize these two cartriges are ballistic twins.
Is there any reason to own one over the other?? Easier to get brass?? Or anything else??
Thanks!!

jeffeossoMid south had dirt cheap Dakota brass
Just about the same round btw. Pick one. It will be fine
I load for the 450 Rigby. Brass is readily available from most large dealers either through Norma, Bertram or some left over Jamison. Probably less so for the Dakota but I wouldn't let that change my decision if you like the rifle. Just buy up a bunch of brass when you get the chance, mine has held up better than I thought it would. Either is a great cartridge IMO

Austin HunterI went thru the same decision process over a year ago. Decided on a 450 Dakota, but eventually built a 404J. Wanted something older and it gave me a reason to build a 500 Jeffery next.

Dave BushWow Jeff, that is a deal!
I have the 450 Dakota. Nice cartridge but I think the Rigby is a ballistic twin. In my gun, I shoot 450 TSX bullets right at 2400 fps, very modest pressures. Cases seem to last forever.
It's just something different from a .458 Lott. More bullet speed but at less pressure and if you are going to have a magnum length action, you might as well put a magnum length cartridge in it, right?
