Never one to leave a rifle stock I am looking at a couple possible changes to the CZ .416rigby I recently picked up.

Changes I am debating;
- rechambering to .404j, the more I read about this caliber the more it interests me

or
- shortening the 416 barrel to 20", I like short rifles Cool

either direction I am looking to see if I can get the CZ stock a bit more svelte....I like the humpback design but overall the rifle just does not feel lively enough...I love the lines of the older Mausers....not sure if this is possible or not.

Dew,
My son and I have used Docs Gun Shop in Carrollton for several years and have no complaints. He is usually quite busy (a good sign) and if you see him, tell him Charles and Colin Shelton recommended him.

No personal experience, but the 404 Jeff Aaron built for another forum member here is certainly classic Mauser. I believe he is in Denton.

If you are okay with shipping, I'm a big fan of AHR in Montana. My 375 was worked over by Wayne and it is one heck of a tool - the kind of rifle you want in your hands when a Cape buffalo is coming to collect his money from you.

You might look at Justin, TX. That was the location of Aaron Little the last time I visited with him. A person could look long and hard a not find a better gunsmith.
