Hi Guys I'm in the market for a vest to use when shooting large calibre rifles over my stand - up bench. I always end up bruised in the shoulder and upper arm area. I live in a very warm part of the country so I need something that is reasonably light and airy with some sort of protection in the shoulder area. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot. GG

I use a PAST recoil shield when necessary. It slips over your shoulder and is cinched by a strap around your chest. If you don't like that idea, how about a trap shooting vest? George

I use a National Match competition shooting jacket that has a built in rubber pad on the shoulder. If that is not enough, I can stuff a hand towel inside the vest over my shoulder. What I like about the competition shooting jacket is that it fits tight and tightens up my whole upper body in preparation for a bone-jarring and brain-sloshing shooting experience.

Look at Cabelas Worldwide Vest. Padded shoulder with additional removable recoil pad. Tanzania in 2006! Had 141 posts on prior forum as citori3.
