Today I went into a local gunshop to cancel part of an order on a Blaser rifle for the second barrel in .375H&H reasoning that since I already have 3 .375's, I don't need another and that if anything I would like a .458 - well there was an older model CZ, as new going for a song. I said I'd only take it if he would have it reamed out to .458 lott - no problem. So now I have a .458 lott, after quite a few years of just "wanting" one to turn up. Now when it gets back from the smith, I plan on bedding it, and having a look at the trigger, which feels a bit scratchy, is there anything else I might want to address or does anyone want to suggest some loads?

Congrats on moving up to the Lott. You might consider having AHR straighten & fill the bolt, add their wonderfull 3 position safety & trigger. Ask Ed or Bitteroot on here. They can also bed it well. I really love the straightened bolt as it keeps the handle from rapping your fingers on bigger kickers. My 600 is more comfortable than many smaller calibers with these touch-ups.

I had really good results yesterday with Data Powder 74 behind a 500 grain Hornady soft point in my 458 Lott. Mine is a Ruger RSM. I went to 88 grains. The listed max is 88.6. I don't think I want to go any higher. Managed a 1.2" 3 shot group off the bags and I am sure I flinched a little on the last shot. Good luck. tell us how it shoots.
