I'm thinking about picking up a Eddystone model 1917 to eventually rebarrel to some sort of a big bore. Right now I'm thinking 458 Lott since the action is so large. I already have a 375 ruger so that seems like the next step up. I'm open to hearing other suggestions though. I was originally looking for a mauser to do a 458 win mag, but I kind of like the looks of the Enfield and I won't have to do any action work besides getting it to feed. I'd appreciate any feedback or tips.

For a big action, don't stop with the 458Lott when you could do a 450 Rigby. If you want bigger, you could go 500A2 or 500Mbogo. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

I found a centurion p14 that's already chambered in 300 win today at the pawn shop. Still has the duck pond though, but the ears were removed cleanly. Should be a pretty straight forward swap to a Lott. I plan on leaving the cock on closing. Not sure about the stock yet, this one has a Kevlar I think that looks like it'll beat you. Are there any inherent problems with these centurion rifles?

416 or 450 Rigby would be my choice. I have a Winchester action M17 being built into an 8x68s and a Rem M17 that will be turned into a 35/338RUM. Already have a CZ550 in 416Rigby.

I recently built a 404 Jefferys on a Rem 30-S, basically the same as the Enfield..I have two barreled actions on a Win and a Rem made Enfield, one a 404 and the other a 416..I like those actions but they do require a lot of work, but the end results are fine..Mine are all customized with all or most all the bells and whistle with the exception of the safety. I love the old hammer Enfield safety, you never miss it and it plain works...I wish now that I had one of the actions barreled in a 500 of some sort as I don't intend to keep either one of them and the 500 probably sells for more and maybe easier to sell, but as I age I don't think 50 caliber anymore. Maybe the next one. If you want to see what a custom Enfield looks like or get some ideas send me your email and I'll forward pictures to your email.
