I just saw this while browsing the web and it got up my shirt. http://www.westleyrichards.com/gun/used_guns_2_product.php?id=24751 Look at the close-up picture. I for one would not be happy paying a good price for a rifle and ending up with that. Would rather have it plain than engraved if that was all I could come up with. Maybe someone likes it? I don't know.

I think it looks OK, but I agree that no engraving is better than lousy engraving. Same with checkering.

Stu I agree completely. The engraving style applied to the rifle is ok. The problem is the scroll work is too big. They are trying to cover too much metal with too little scroll. In the old days, they would cut a nice border with a bit of scroll here and there when there was a small budget for engraving. I can assure you, it worked out much nicer than the example you posted.

Roger, If someone bought a gun or rifle with engraving they didn't like, eg the picture posted above, what options do you have to improve/fix it? Can the engraving be struck-off and started again?
