Guys,
I've cracked! I dearly miss the 10.75x68 Mauser I let go years ago and am dithering over building another, this time on a ZG47 action. But brass remains an issue. In the past I used RWS exclusively with great success even loaded up to original 404J velocities. Is Horneber brass still available and what's the Bertram stuff like at original 10.75 velocities?
Cheers...

Con,

Horneber is available from Huntintons or you could contact Dieter Direct...I no longer have his number.

Bertram well....you know the drill, it works fine for my .585 Nyati but it's no good for m4 .416 Rigby.

fla3006,
What velocity are you asking out of the Bertram brass? I've spoken to one guy that had problems with stretching and splits/cracks but he was getting 2300+ fps from the 347gr. I'm very happy to stay in the 2200fps region.
Cheers...

I use Bertram cases. Soft but work OK in my rifle, haven't had any split or stretch. Most say to use Horneber. Woodleigh 347gn bullets work real well.

I hate Bertram brass in 10.75x68, all mine stuff split on the 2nd loading with very mile loads...so I sold the rifle..

But like you I love the 10.75x68..I got 2350 FPS with a barnes 350 gr. bullet, recoil is hardly noticeably and it can be in a nice light rifle on a standard Mauser action..A real walking around Buffalo rifle....

With the advent of Horneber brass all problems with the 10.75 are solved...Huntingtons handles it..

Hi,
Try Ken Stewart in Pietersburg RSA. He will make cases for you but also very good bullets. I prefer them to Woodleighs and he has a very nice 10.75 bullet in 375 grains thats fits the 10.75x68 perfect. You get velocity AND weight...

I spoke to the bloke that bought my first 10.75 last night chasing up his cases, dies etc...but no luck, all sold to another enthusiast. Discovered another reamer has been imported into Australia, so now to locate it and order the Lothar barrel and I'm away. When I mentioned on the phone I'd be building another 10.75 he just sighed and said he'd be in contact later as he'd also build a custom when finances are there... despite the problems with obtaining brass the 10.75 just has that effect on you
Cheers...
