So is a 9.75 lb rifle without scope, 10.5 lb rifle with scope in 458 Lott or 470 Capstick a reasonable weight? The recoil calculator on handloads.com indicates that the recoil goes from 35.53 ft/lbs and 14.42 fps with my 11 lb. 375 H&H shooting 350g loads at 2350 fps to 67 ft/lbs and 20.27 fps with a 500g bullet at 2300 fps out of a 10.5 lbs 470 Capstick (assuming I had the barrel rebored and cut to 22"). Definitely something to think about.

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck

Yes. My #1 458 Lott with a peep sight weighs in at 9 3/4 lbs. No problem at all to shoot, just don't do it off a bench.
