Our local store has a Post 64 (push feed) M70 in .458WM for $750.

What do you think would be a fair price for this rifle? What is its utility, if what you are going after is dangerous game?

Lastly, for you gunsmiths: Can the M70 push feed bolt be modified to a Mauser type extractor with a plunger type ejector? Ku-dude

I just bought this rifle, you may want to check the auction sites first, seem like you might find a better deal

imho, 750 for a pushfeed it too much. You can get the safari CRF for 850-900 all day long from gunbroker, new.

I saw a 458 winnie in a pushfeed at the last houston BIG show, for 450, and the guy was asking me to make an offer, and I just couldnt. dont want a "stopper" in a pushfeed. Now, if it was for a "puny" 338 or 375..... (just kidding guys)

good hunting

Offer him $4oo for it, and use it with light loads for deer and black bear. Hell, with a little load developement you might load it down to 45-70 specs, then it would be OK for Cape Buffalo! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Cool]

A couple of months ago I purchased a like new '97 or '98 vintage .458 Winchester Classic Express from out local pawn shop for $500. With all the posts on feeding problems, I was a little hesitant to make the purchase. To my good fortune, it feeds 500gr softs and 405gr jacketed flat nose perfectly. Cobalt
