I got my Leupold 1" low rings for my Ruger No1 416 Rem Mag today, and will soon mount my Weaver V3 scope. I'm going to lapp the bottom rings, but am unsure if I should put something inside the rings to prevent the scope from shifting or sliding. What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have a problem with that slipping, but I will tell you a trick of mine. On my handgun scopes (large calibers), I put a coating of rubber cement on the rings all the way around and let it dry before installing the scope. This works awesome and will NEVER move.

I actually decided to use no adhesive. After lapping the rings, which worked great, I saw little need for it.

Thanks anyways.
