I was just wondering if the AR-10 would handle a 475 B&M Cartridge? If so, who makes barrels, uppers, ext? I think the idea of a AR platform rifle that can take any game on the planet would be cool. Michael has the 458 and 50 B&M SA which uses the RSAUM length case in his DPMS semi autos. If you want a 475 on the AR-10 I'd recommend going with the same case length - it would be a new B&M cartridge. Jim "Life's hard; it's harder if you're stupid" John Wayne | |||

canadian Magazine length is the main issue here. The 475 B&M is 2.25 inches, most all of the .474 bullets are way too long for magazine, same as the other B&Ms. To work through the magazines you have to have a 2 inch case--50 B&M SA--458 B&M SA are both 2 inch cases. A .474 would have to be the same. JD at SSK Industries handles all the B&M SA's. While I have a couple of them, they are big fun no doubt, but just not something I can sink my teeth into. While I have done some load data on these, I just can't keep enough interest to push things. JD was here a few weeks ago, he discovered the 9.3 B&M and the 210 Raptor from CEB. The 9.3 B&M is also a 2.25 inch case, however with the Raptor seated proper it will work in the magazine. JD took samples home with him, and they are busy now building a AR with the 9.3 B&M. I really don't know how much pressures a SA can handle compared to a bolt gun, but my load for that 9.3 210 Raptor does 2950 fps in a 20 inch barrel--pretty serious stuff! Thanks Michael! That is what I was afraid of. BTW what kind of velocity are you getting out of the 50 B&M SA? I look at the 50 SA as a lighter bullet cartridge, and I probably have not done enough work with it truth be known, at least not in a semi. 300 Hornady--2492 fps 325 Barnes X--2360 fps 350 Brass NonCon--2300 fps 375 BBW#13--2130 fps Various 400s--2000 fps.
