OK I was practicing fast cycling and shooting and succeeded in ripping the head off a case (leaving the rest in the chamber) on my 375 H&H. Any suggestions on how to get it out? Peter. Peter, Get a .44- or .45-caliber bore brush, and insert it into the case from the breech end. Turn the brush 1/4 turn to set the bristles against the inside of the case and pull. The case should come right out. George

Peter Was that a reload??? Most likely, that is not a Blaser R 93 problem. The cause is probably a case that was expanded and then resized too much... If it was a factory load, and the problem happens again I would send the barrel back to Blaser USA, and have them check it out... I have fired at least ten R 93 375 H&H barrels with no problems... I don't believe that it was a Blaser problem. Probably an old case that had been resized too many times. The load was my accuracy load using 260 grain NP's and as I recollect 71 grains of RL15 (I will have to check). The fired cases come out "cold" and the recoil is not stout. Rather embarrassing I must confess, still I would rather discover it now! Any chance I exacerbated it by "yanking" on the bolt handle? Not saying I did, but my thought process were rather like this: OK aim and fire Good! Oh shit, I was supposed to cycle the bolt. Cycle the bolt and attempt to chamber. Oh shit, won't chamber! Oh shit! . . . Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Still worth getting the headspace checked - even if it is just for peace of mind. there are allegations from blaser detractors that headspace does grow on older, well worn R93's. NB- I have never seen it myself, and the case design of the .375 promotes the brass flowing forward and a rapid weakening of the case head, so if the round has been reloaded more than a few times...almost certainly the case. But as the Irish say, to be sure...to be sure.

Cases for the 375 H&H Magnum tend to stretch so to avoid that problem in the future, run a wire with the tip bent to 90 degrees down the inside of the case before you reload them. If you feel a groove forming above the head discard the case. At least with Federal cases, I don't plan on much more than 2 or 3 reloads. If it makes you feel any better, I've done what you did though in an Encore or maybe it was my Blaser; I don't remember. Anyway, I stuck snap ring pliers inside the broken off case and it came out easily.

PROBLEM SOLVED! Someone on the Blaser forum suggested that I stick the barrel in a freezer and then try to remove the case (the "brass" would contract more than the steel barrel). Did that. Stuck a 45 cal brush into the chamber end and the case came right out, first time! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee.
