In the midst of planning a trip across the pond to hunt DG in '07 (Buff. and Leopard), and need a DGR. Originally I was looking into the AHR, but have been told that it would be a good idea to check into a custom DGR based on a M70 Classic action by D'Arcy Echols. I've done some searching, and notice he has no website. I also can't seem to find any examples of his work. Are all his rifles done with a synthetic stock, or does he have offerings in wood? For those that have had D'Arcy build them a Ledgend, could you please post up some photo's? Appreciate your assistance. William

I have several of Darcy's rifles, all fiberglass stocked. They are a work of art and absolutely the finest shooting and functioning rifles I have owned...and I've owned rifles built by most of the best names in the business. If you want a big bore rifle you will find what he builds to be as good as your money can buy, something that is absolutely ready to hunt with the moment you receive it. Not necessary to work the bugs out, he's already taken care of that before it comes your way. His rifles aren't cheap, but then perfection never is.

D'Arcy has impeccable standards for reliability and accuracy in his rifles. He makes them in wood as well as synthetic. He installs his own magazines that fit perfectly to the caliber the customer chooses. His rifles must function and feed perfectly (including upside down from what I have read) before they leave. I knew a guy who had a Legend (synthetic stock) in .300 Weatherby and he swore by it. Also, it would feed when the rifle was turned upside down each and every time. I have met two guys at my local range who had them, and they had nothing but the highest praise to give. I don't think you could go wrong with them at all. Good luck

Give D'Arcy a call 435-755-6842 or PM me with your phone number. I have two (and a third in the works) of his rifles.

William, Rifle magazine has had coverage of the Legend rifles (synthetic stock), with some good photos. The pictures of course don't capture the internals, or the feel of the action. Current price is in the $7,000s, and delivery takes a while. I know several people who own them, but I haven't jumped off the pier yet. jim if you're too busy to hunt, you're too busy.
