Big Bore Shooters!

Phoenix Rod & Gun Club (PRGC) in Phoenix, Arizona is running its first Big Bore Rifle Shoot for African Dangerous Game Style rifles!

So, if you’re the guy who bought that .458 Win Mag cuz it looked so cool, here’s your chance to shoot it!

Full details are at: http://arizona-rifleshooting.c...ifle-shoot-PRGC.html

We have a full sized elephant that fits in an NRA style High Power frame!

We have a full sized Charging Cape Buffalo (mounts on a cart!)

In addition to snap shooting at the elephant and the charging cape buffalo, we’ll have a timed course of fire with 5 firing points at reduced size Big-5 game targets as well as stationary shoots at bullseye and animal targets. Expect 15 shots for record, plus an opportunity to use up the other 5 rounds in your box as practice or extra shots. Hit/Miss/Wound scoring. Any African style big bore rifle may be used, you define what you think an African Big bore caliber is.

The shoot will be Sunday 31-Oct-2010 starting around 9AM on the smallbore/practical range until early afternoon! Arrive early for set up, bring ear & eye protection & water!

Fee $20, (discount for PRGC members), Reduced rate for 2nd gun or refire. Limit 20 shooters, email Arizona@rifleshooting.org to pre-register or for questions.

More info: Rifleshooting.org or http://arizona-rifleshooting.c...ifle-shoot-PRGC.html

PRGC is a member run club at the end of 7th Avenue at South Mountain (915 W. Olney Dr.) in Phoenix, Arizona. http://www.phoenixrodandgun.org/

Big Bore Shooters!

The Big (Bore) Date is approaching!

31-Oct (there is some holiday that day isn't there?) is the African Dangerous Game Rifle shoot at
Phoenix Rod & Gun Club!

I painted up another elephant! (shoot the one with the tusks!) and the front half of an incredibly ugly full sized

Cape Buffalo. We'll also have a full sized charging cape buffalo and a bunch of small sized animal targets too!

So grab that .458 Win Mag, .375 H&H, .416 Rigby or what have you!

PM or email me so I know who's coming!

see that cart in the upper picture with the cape buff?

one guy pulls the rope another guy shoots!

the bear sequence at:

sorta shows how it will work but that was before I modified the cart the republican bear always turns to the right. I modified it so the wheels steer. so hopefully we can pull it straight this time.

The elephants I will put in our NRA/CMP High Power target carriers and we will run them up and down at random and eventually the one with the tusks will come all the way up and BANG...BANG! the nitro express will speak!

The Big 5 (reduced size) targets are ready!

we'll have 3 shots on a bullseye, 3 shots on a full sized standing Buff, from a rest or sticks

then a "run and gun" shoot on the big 5 targets against the clock!

then the charging Cape Buff

then the elephants

15 shots total

Score is hit or miss and if you miss a charging dangerous animal your client gets trampled or eaten.

Any rifle*, but if you don't meet power factor, your client gets trampled and eaten!

score will be hit points minus run time minus number of clients eaten or trampled. There will be a safari-themed prize!

SHOOT ON SUNDAY 30-OCT 2010!!!

see you all at PRGC!

the elephants and incredibly ugly buff are painted with a spray can on 6'x6' cardboard (same cardboard we use for high power targets).

the charging buff, I enlarged and printed the face, I cut out the body parts from cardboard, glued the face to the head and spray painted everything black.

the miniature big 5 are from safari press https://www.safaripress.com/home.php?cat=300

target frames are made of lumber.

if you can't make it to my shoot, put on one at your local club!

it was an absolute blast, 5 stages, bullseye, full-sized buff, charging buff, big-5 run, bobbing elephants - if you wound or miss dangerous game, your client gets eaten!

Bill,

This shoot was a hoot! I want to get back to every one you have out there. It was definitely worth the drive. Next time I hope I won't have so many "clients" eated or trampled because I missed. The folks at the shoot know what I'm talkin' about. Thanks also for letting me try your CZ .416 rigby on the elephant target. And the first photo is evidence i did it. A real rush !! I think I need a .416 now.
