This is my low budget pre 64 Win 70 hunting rifle in 375 H&H. I traded an AR-15 for the 1961 300 H&H action. The 24 inch #5 contour Douglas Premium Stainless was installed by IT&D. Dave also drilled for the Williams front ramp. I don't remember what height front ramp and Williams Fire Sight I ended up going with. The rear sight is a Marble's #30. I and my friends really like the push button feature on the elevation adjustment. The scope is a Leupold 2-7x Vari-XIIc in medium height Leupold QR mounts. Ahlman's installed the cross bolts. I did the rest to the stock, which includes: Full length rock solid bedded, installed the Winchester red ventilated recoil pad, refinished, and recheckered. (This was my first attempt at checkering and there are plenty of flaws, but it does give a good grip, which is what I was after. I really lucked into that stock. It was an internet purchase and was supposedly a standard cut off pre 64 stock. What a surprize when it turned out to be a 300 H&H! The irons are dead on @ 50yards and the scope @ 100 yards. I load 300 grain Noslers and Hornadys over 66.5 grains of IMR-4064 in Winchester cases with Fed 215 primers. It is an accurate no frills rig. ETA: The gun as shown weighs 9.01 pounds empty. That is a Williams 5/16" ramp and a .375N Fire Sight. PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor | ||
