Ramline still offers their Syntach (spelling) if I recall correctly. Try the usual outlets, Midway, Brownell's etc. I think MacMillan (spelling again) still makes them as well, but they will be salty. Any synthetic that you find that will fit a pre 64 will work; you may have to open the barrel channel. They used a pretty flimsy syntetic stock on the factory guns in 375. ETA: I did not mean to imply that Winchester put synthetic stocks on any pre 64 guns. Winchester did make post 64's with some pretty flimsy (similar to Butler Creek injection molded offerings)stocks on them in the magnum calibers. PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor

The actual Pre-64 Mod. 70s in .375H&H were not sold with a synthetic stock of any type. I have now owned several of these rifles in both .375 and .300 H&H, about 12 all told and I now have two. Among the best synthetics for the P-64-.375 are the discontinued Borden-Rimrock stocks, I have several of these and my minty original .375 is in one. I also like the McMillan Monte Carlo original pattern and the Sako Classic Micky inletted for the P-64, these are all comfortable and work well. I just took a Brown Precision off of one of my P-64 Alaskan .338s, which got soaked in NWBC rain last week and I have used several of these on P-64s with great satisfaction. I am getting a custom "mountain rifle" "beater" tomorrow which is a .338WM on a P-64 action, which was a .264WM, sts. bbl and Micky Super Grade stock, with serious trimming done to it to lower weight. I would also recommend this Micky and Darcy Echols sells his superb Legend stock inletted for the P-64 and it is just "perfect" for the .375H&H. Go with McMillan, a P-64 in .375 deserves the finest.

Dewey, Help me out here please, I talked to the nice lady at McMillan and she said the only stock they offer for the Pre 64 375 H&H is their WINCHESTER PRE-64 MONTE CARLO. She said this one fits the trigger guard properly. Seems like the others will require you to file (yuk) the tip of the TG to make it flush with the pistol grip. Is this the one you're referring to? http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmil....php?subnav=branch2h Thanks Jim

I think the lady at McMillan means that the only factory style direct replacement is the Pre-64 Monte Carlo. McMillan can inlet any of there styles for just about any action and the M70 will fit in most of them. That said I would get in touch with D'arcy Echols and see about getting one of his Legend stocks for you Winchester. But, be aware that he furnishes them completely unfinished. You'll have to finish the inletting, cut the bolt notch and ejection port, fill, sand and paint the exterior.

BF, that is the one, the P-64 MC style copied from an original Winny stock, of which I have owned dozens. I was a wee bit hesitant to use one, but, my buddy who buys older P-64s and then builds "custom" working bush rifles on them started the following project. He found an original action, factory cut for the H&H rounds, a used Micky MC stock and a take-off Classic sts tube and bought all of these very cheaply. He had the bbl. cut to 20" and was building a Grizzly buster for use in his profession and then lost interest. He sold it to me, I had Recknagel "fire sights" installed, a Leupy 2.5 CMHD, Leupy QRWs, had it "Gun-Koted" and painted with dull brown paint under a spray grit. It shoots "bug holes" with 300 NPs and I settled on 2400 fps.-mv. after some experimentation as this WILL kick a bear's butt and is easy to shoot well. I find this stock VERY comfortable in .375 recoil and certainly suggest it as a practical way to go for your P-64, especially with a Kick-Ezz or Decelerator type pad.

If you look up a bit you'll see my post about "stealth practice". I'm shooting a push feed M70 375 in a Bell & Carlson stock. I have used the same stock on a pre64 action too. If you are a bit handy and careful it is a easy garage project. I'd suggest some reinforcement at the recoil lug. I used a few pieces of fiberglass plate in mine. if your's has the barrel mounted recoil lugg it can a bit trickey. Over 150 full loads through it with no stock issues. Pete A.
