There are some interesting features on that Belgian I don't recognize. the barrel seems shorter, the safety looks like a Model 70 adaptation and what is the button on the trigger guard for? Nice engraving. What kind of scope is that? jorge

Very nice, i like too see well made rifles in todays crank em out mentality, if the stock cracks tell em its out of waranty, what do you mean your rifle is bound up?, it was made to be 2 lbs heavy at the muzzle, we did the best we can and its yours now, yes we made better but thats what we make now, if you dont like it trade it in for something else, and all of our customer sevice reps are out of the office please call back later. Dear Jorge

Its a 24" barrel and a 3 position safety on a mauser action. The button releases the drop plate for the magazine. It groups just under 1" at 100 yds with homeload 300gn woodleigh SP. I also has a recoil damper fitted in the stock so 35 rounds of benchrest shooting is no problem just remember to hold the foreend down.

Mark, I have the same rifle in a little later production, as well as a 1st year production .458WM. Neither has that drop plate button release. Is that an aftermarket release?

Both are fine shooters, but at 7 lbs., the .458 is a handful. However, I've found that hot 500 gr. loads actually give a heavy push, as opposed to the punchy recoil of hot 405 gr. loads. Actually more comfortable to shoot with the heavier bullet.

Dear Fischer

I dont know about the drop plate release it could be for the European Market as it was sold as the Alpin model.
She weight in at 10 pounds with the recoil damper in the stock and shoots very comfortably with the 300 gn woodleighs.

Regards

Mark
