Since Remington bought Dakota, does anyone have any comments or insight into how the transition is going? What is being marketed now?

From what I understand, Remington is pretty much giving Dakota free reign, and the Dakota guys are happy to have the funding needed for new equipment and the like when needed. So far, so good, I guess.

I was told that the Remington Custom Shop management/sales is getting involved with pushing Dakota rifles. My local gundealer in Kentucky is a big customer of Remington. They must have made him a good deal because he is starting to stock new Dakota rifles. The first that showed up on the rack there was a .375 H&H made on the M76 African action, with a Rigby length box, and the usual Dakota walnut and blue. He is awaiting the next shipment of "a bunch more." Sounds like they are expected by the dozen. I check in about weekly to see what is there. DRG says: "Kiss my liberal grits!"

I think Remkota needs a bold new marketing plan. What is the most famously successful Dakota-actioned rifle in the world? Why of course it is Saeed's .375/404J-UAE. Everybody wants one. African M76 action with electroless nickel matte finish. Lilja stainless fluted barrel ... complete with "red god racing stripes," painted flutes using Walter's brand of red toenail polish. A quality synthetic stock. Leupold 2.5x-8x 36mm Obj matte black scope in fixed mounts, accessorizing as special order. I am tired of the same old Dakota walnut and blue blahs. Maybe Saeed could be enlisted to provide the top-secret specs of his cartridge to Remkota for the chambering, brass, and reloading dies from Redding? A new proprietary cartridge out of the wildcat from Saeed: Might save the business. I'd buy one. DRG says: "Kiss my liberal grits!"

So what? Cerberus is merely an investment dog with three heads gaurding the gates of investing hell. Remington Custom Shop is calling big dealers and begging them to stock spec guns from Dakota. A Remkota .375/404J-UAE ought to please stockholders. DRG says: "Kiss my liberal grits!"

Well, www.whittakerguns.com now has a .375 H&H Dakota No. 10 single shot in .375 H&H for $5000.99. Funny price, eh? The M76 bolt action in same caliber and same walnut and blue is about 6K. Whittaker Guns is selling about 10% below the usual prices of Dakota. DRG says: "Kiss my liberal grits!"
