If you want a double rifle for a budget bwana, start checking out the on-line auctions for the Pedersoli Kodiak. It comes in both 45/70 (which is much more common) and 9.3x74 (which is actually more useful). We've been seeing 2nd hand in NRA VG to EXC for around $16-1700. That's
very reasonable! The neat thing about the 45/70 is that, after you've played around with it in the original caliber, you can have it rechambered for either 450NE or 450NE #2 and the damned thing will still regulate both barrels to the same POA. This is contrary to all DB dogma but it seems to have worked for a goodly number of the brotherhood. That's the road I'm taking.
