I know they have a single set trigger but what is the setup on their normal trigger.

Is it adjustable for sear engagement?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike:

As far as I know the CZ 550 only comes with a SS trigger. I was able to fully adjust mine so that they work well. The triggers are too narrow, but I got used to them.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the set trigger mechanism on a CZ is relatively easy to remove leaving the rifle with a normal single stage trigger.

Yes , that is right, the single set trigger function can easily disabled with the screw direct in front of the trigger. Then you will have the "normal" single stage trigger.

The CZ trigger is adjustable for pull weight, pre-travel (creep) and over-travel. The set weight is also adjustable or can be disabled if desired. The instructions for doing adjustments are clearly given in the manual that comes with the rifle.

Tailgunner,

Your "pre-travel (creep)" reads "sear engagement" to me.

I think a mate of mine is now about to invest in a CZ.

Thanks for the info.

Gents, just wondering my 602's came with a separate single stage trigger so you can change from set to single by exchanging the triggers.
I take it the 550's don't have this?

Martin,
Yep, ye olde Brno ZKK 602 had a replacement trigger in a little cloth bag packaged with the gun. When I got mine (used) it had the set trigger parts in the bag and the single stage adjustable trigger installed. I liked that. I then added the PME, Inc. three-position safety to replace the bassackwards 602 safety, and the rest is history ... a fine gun now.

The newer CZ 550 has the bulkier trigger that can be modified as noted above to be either a single set trigger or converted to the single stage adjustable non-set type. This bulkier trigger housing is the only bedding difference around the actions between the stocks of the old 602 and the new 550.

As Will noted, the new CZ 550 trigger blade itself is skinny but can be gotten used too. And, the safety at least works in the proper direction right out of the box, so will not get you killed, and can be used, but the 3 position PME, Inc. safety would benefit the CZ 550 also.
