Have always wanted an over and under rifle and there seem to be some reasonable priced ones in this cartrdige.
I am curious as to why this cartridge is loaded so lightlty when compared to the 9,3x62.

Does the 9,3x74r qualify for dangerous game in most countries.

the 9,3 is very popular in Germany-especially
for boar in Drillings and Bockbuechsflinten.
IMO you can use it for all european and north american game.
The lighter loads are caused by the max pressure which is 3400bar to 3900 bar for the x62!
Therefore its a cartridge for shorter distances with a great reputation.

DEPENDING ON YOUR IDEA OF REASONABLE OF INEXPENSIVE I JUST READ THE OTHER DAY THAT BAIKAL THE RUSSIAN GUN COMPANY MAKES AN OVER AND UNDER IN 9,3 X 74R. I THINK THESE GUNS GO FOR UNDER $700. I HAVE SEEN ONE AT THE STAND THEY HAD AT THE NATIONAL TRAP CHAMPIONSHIPS. THE TWO BARELLS HAVE A JACK SCREW ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN THEM SO YOU CAN REGULATE THEM WITH DIFFERENT LOADS. THE RIFLE COMES TO YOUR SHOULDER VERY NICELY. I BOUGHT ONE OF THEIR SHOTGUNS TO PLAY AROUND WITH AND IF THE RIFLES ARE BUILT AS SOLIDLY YOU COULD PROBABLY BEAT YOUR GAME TO DEATH WITH IT IF YOUR TWO SHOTS DIDN'T WORK.

Really? Typical Russian, not very elegant, perhaps, but T-72 tough. Hmmm, that means that you could load your 9.3x72 up to 62mm pressures, re-regulate and have a Class I double rifle for near peanuts? Oh, be still, my heart.
