Does anybody know why this stuff is on back order? I think it either has to be there is a terrible supply for some reason. Or the demand is a lot higher than they thought it would be. Does anybody know what the deal is? Sand Creek November 29 1864 | ||

This site is probably the only one that would care about a 416 Ruger. I doubt that there is much production of anything in this caliber. | |||

I would think that is just about backwards. Regardless of it's merits, I doubt there is much demand for the caliber at all. So little in fact, that it isn't worth the trouble to produce the components except on a very limited basis. | |||

Just about everything is produced in batches. There isn't a machine dedicated to each one. If they miscalculate things go out of stock. Just wait, they will be back soon. | |||

 Powder Valley has 416Ruger brass in stock at a very good price, $42.92. MidwayUSA suggests a restocking date of 22 Dec, at $47.49. Check out Powder Valley for components: http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ As for general sales and availability, I've heard that the calibre has been very successful in Alaska. For short, quick landling, with a lot of punch, controlled feed, and inexpensive, the Ruger Alaskan 416 Ruger would be hard to beat. You've got to appaud Ruger on this one. I can see them making their way to Africa, too, though many go the route of the more expensive, longer, heavier, WinM70 416 Rem, even though the ballistics are same. PS: both Hornady and RCBS dies are available at Midway. So using both Powder Valley and Midway, you could have everything on your way. Have used the .416 Ruger on four trips to Africa and find it is seriously effective. It has received very good reviews in the most popular shooting magazine in Southern Africa "Magnum". Using North Fork .400 gr. cupped and flat nose solids the .416 Ruger made some great kills from elephant @20 yards (fell in a covered elephant track and broke the stock on the .470NE double) to a jackal and baboon at 230 meters.
