Just picked up a CZ 550 magnum in 416 Rigby in anticipation of a cape buffalo safari in May of 06. While my BRNO 602 375 H&H probably would have been adequate, it was a good excuse for a new rifle and to "step it up a notch". I have already sent her off to "beauty school" (Briley here in Houston) for several things: barrel is being trimmed to 23", barrel band added, glass bedding, trigger work and the bolt lapped. Also, they will be adding a Khales 2x7 scope on Warne quick release mounts and a new recoil pad. SInce the 550 has more "normal" safety position I do not think I am going to change it out. However, I seem to have seen some comments around the magazine spring needing work. Any thoughts?

I would have Briley straighten the bolt handle and fill the hole in the knob with a weld, looks better IMO. The receiver also looks better if the blockish letters are polished off, but will require rebluing, rust blue if you do. Stock also looks better if reshaped/recheckered English style. These are mainly cosmetic suggestions, of course. Interested in selling your 602 375?

Fireman !! I agree with you totally, if I had my time over I would not have bought the custom synthetic stock as the hogs back makes the cz point like an english shot gun....so I have left it on with my lott and .375. My 9.3 cz also has the lux stock less the schanabel forend.

Amen PC, I put a McMillan on my 416 CZ Rigby. I'm going back to the hogsback (with the schnabel trimmed, of course). JCN
