I just bought a CZ-550 in 375 H&H about a month ago. I bought it with the intent as an all around Africa rifle - not that I'm heading there anytime soon. The rifle shoulders well for me and functions as I expected. I bought it though as a base point for something more and fully expected it to need some work (and I've sent it off to a gunsmith for some improvements - aesthetic, mostly). You can shoot it out of the box, but you can also improve upon it. The really nice thing about the CZ is that huge magazine. I can get 6+1 into my rifle. Get a 375, it will take anything on earth, you just make sure you place the bullet properly. A well placed 375 will do more damage then a marginal shot with 458 Lott or 460 Weatherby. Just use a good bullet, Northfork, A Frame, both are proven. | |||

Buff tracks up you chest really suck. I picked up a CZ 375 just because I did not have a 375. You are right on with the mag capacity  I find it pleasant to shoot compared to my 416 which only holds 3 down. Jim "Bwana Umfundi" NRA | |||

The CZ 550 in 375 H&H it's a sweet gun and cartridge. I'm sure it's capable of killing anything on the planet. It just didn't scratch my recoil itch (it's my first big bore and I expected more of a kick). By the way, I just picked up the CZ-USA buyer's guide. Harlan Satrang (who's converting my 375 H&H to 500 Jeffery as we speak) is on page 18. The 500 Jeffery should scratch my itch way down deep. I'm thinking if four 570g .510 caliber TSX and Barnes banded solids don't do the job, I guess I deserve a good stomping ... Having had all but the .458 Lott in the RSM I think you will settle with the Whitworths in the field. They are tried and true and carry well. They shoot as well as any other and they are able to take down anything you want. If you want more than the .458 wm you can open it to the lott although I felt it was too much for the light rifle and had to add a Mercury stick to the Butt. Now it is also enjoyable to shoot. The Whitworth express and Mark X express rifles are absolutely the best value out there. Frank | |||

Frank-- I sure do like the way the Whitworths handle, they do feel more "right" than the Rugers but both of them have ejection problems. Does anyone know a good gunsmith to fix this? I have tried 2 so far and nada. The Rugers are heavier.....but they always work. And recoil seems less. They also just look like "African Rifles". | |||
