I would like to know if I can use the 570 grn Barne XLC. It is stated as an .509" and not a .510" I know that the .509" is used in the .500 NE but would it work in the Jeffery too.
Barnes also makes a 647 grn. XBT I guess that is for the .50 BMG ? A bit heavy but would taht work in the Jeffery
I use woodleigh 535 grn. but wold like to try the Barnes if possible.

Cheers,

Andr

A lot of the Barnes XLC bullets are undersized. I think that if they are the right size, the rifling just scrapes that blue coating off.

You will have no trouble using them in your 500 jeff, however since they are a monolithic bullet, be sure to start with light loads and work up carefully to avoid any pressure problems.

No, I have not used them on game, but the price was right so I laid in a goodly supply.

A pair of .510/570 grain X bullets drawn down for use in my .505.
Each took buffalo in Zim, 2002.

Left - 50 yards. Chest shot, just ahead of the onside shoulder, smashing the offside. Went about 30 yards.

Right - 100 yards (a long story). Immediately behind both shoulders, as I misread the pace. Went about 30 yards.
