I just put on a new coffee camo pattern stock for my 416 Model 70. Why, you ask?

I needed a little more drop at comb to use the open sights. Now it sights perfectly for me.

The 2x scope on top is just for familiarity. There's a Trijicon TR-24G on the way.

I had never seen a coffee camo in the flesh. It's not as loud as I thought, so I'm satisfied.

It was a snap, it took about 30 seconds. I don't know if it needs to be bedded, but the fit was perfect and the recess was there for the second lug. Since it isn't a "long range" rig I probably won't have to do any more to it.

I'm very pleased with the purchase.

rodell,

I like coffee! I will consider the "paint horse" look next time I order a McMillan.

I am sure that McMillan recommends a proper glass bedding if you plan to shoot that rifle.
The McMillan stock does not have an aluminum bedding block
which you might allow the primary recoil lug to smash itself into to "self bed,"
assuming the rest of the stock was a good match to the barreled action dimensions.

I always see that the McMillan stocks are properly bedded,
and adding pillars may be superfluous, but not a bad idea.

I added the pillars offered McMillan. I can't imagine why someone wouldn't.

Maybe I will bed the front recoil lug only, much like the factory stock. McMillan is ambivalent about whether bedding the action is needed.
