I know, I know, it's meant to be a beater, and, as my 'smith keeps telling me, I should go hunting with them, then dress up the guns...

Any suggestions for a warthog ivory front bead, recessed front swivel, and maybe an engraved "buttcap" to replace the silly one in it now. I'm keeping the Hogue stock, since I find it very comfortable.

I'd dress it up with a best quality sling, two scopes set in rings, and a bore guide from Eric Sinclair and be in the wind. Smiler

What Buliwyf said, plus polka dot bikini scope covers.

Seriously, how do you dress up a Hogue-stocked, matte stainless Ruger with 20" barrel? Gilding the dandelion?

P.S.

I think dandelions are beautiful, and very good at what they do. Very successful. Wink

I have seen a couple of those alaskan hawkyes. I thnk the stark uglyness is , the charm.
i like a nice chunk of walnut and a good blue finish real well , but that Ruger is a stark , cold killing tool.
Not a bad thing , I rather like it myself.
Slam a 1.5X5 leupold on it and go a hunting.
I would love to see Hornady prouduce , a bullet designed for Elk hunting, in .375,
The nosler 260 grain acubond should be real good for the purpose.

For elk, I've been using the 210 and 235 grain X bullets in my .375 H&H Mag. They work great.

Please pardon the hijack Aglifter but I have a question about your Alaskan. Is the Hogue stock the "pillar bedding" or "full length aluminum bedding block" model?

Maybe not for elk, but Hornady is revamping some of their .375 bullets as we speak. I heard the 300gr. FMJs and Interbonds will change for the better. Did't hear of any other changes.
