I have 3 different rifles chambered in 375 H&H
A Rem 700xcr, Sako AV carbine and Whitworth Express .
I am considering getting rid of 1 if not 2 of them. ( economics) My problem is they all shoot the same load equally. I am getting 1" groups at 100 yds from all. Thus making my decision tougher. The Rem . is the lightest, the Whitworth feels the best , and the Sako just looks cool. Really have no negatives on any of them, they are differant but yet the same.
Not looking for offers to buy, just some insight as to how some of you make this type of judgement. I have never owned 3 rifles that shot this good with the same loading.

If it was me.
Whitworth feels the best. Keeper no.1
Sako coolest. Keeper no.2
Remington lightest. Keeper no.3

BTY: You can get a synthetic Mannlicher style stock for that Sako these days. tu2

Sell the Remington. You will play hell replacing the other two.

Cheers, John

Keep the one you cannot replace if you regret selling.

I have never had any use for more than one caliber in each rifle..I know guys that have half a dozen 30-06s and they can only shoot one at a time..I would rather have 3 different calibers than 3 of the same..makes no since to me...I end up with two of the same caliber from time to time and you can bet I will sell one of them and sometimes the offers come in and I sell them both, that's the pits! oh well I can build or find another. I don't get attached to many guns. they come and go and any of them can be replaced except those that are family heirlooms...

Oh yeah, keep the Whitworth, it the control feed gun...

I currently have 3 375H&H's ,I did have 5 but sold one and traded the No.1 for a 9.3x74r No.1.I see no reason not to have as many of anything you like as you can afford. That's like saying only eat one french fry or one bean, or one scoop of ice cream. I also can build more and 2 of the 3 I have now I built. Each person has their own ideas about owning anything. I am widowed and live alone but have 2 cars which I can guarantee I can only drive one at a time. I did also have a truck and couldn't drive it at the same time either. Everyone should listen to themselves and make up their own mind.

There you go, I always tell people when asking advice on rifles to go handle as many as you can get your hands on. Go with the one that feels the best.

Ray,
I am the exact opposite. I have multiples in every cartridge I own. Saves on reloading inventory overhead.

Shot one of the Sako carbines, no thanks, that would be first. The Whit is a classic piece of rifle gear, a keeper, the Rem would go next.

I agree.

BUT you will regret selling any rifle. I still regret selling a Mannlicher Schoenauer last year and a 358 Win Mod 70 about 6 years ago.

I have owned some guns in my life and I have sold most of them.
Doesn't matter if they shoot 1/2 moa or less groups.

I just keep the ones that gives me a warm fussy feeling when I shoot themSmiler

Seems to me that the Whitworth is your keeperSmiler

Fred,
What was the problem with the Sako carbine, recoil? blast or combination of both or is the stock wrong on it..I have never shot the sako 375 carbine, but they are neat looking.

I have a 416 Rem Mauser 20 inch carbine that I just sold, and it wasn't bad to shoot..

The only thing that reall bothers me with recoil is my middle finger getting thumped by the trigger guard, thats and "OUCHY"..Then their is the bursitas from shooting big bores but its too late to fix that so I just get off on the pain!!! CRYBABY

Ray ,
Mine has neither issue , the muzzle does jump more than the other two but the groups are still very tight ( pretty good cloverleaf all touching at 100 yds) I had it up for sale previous on AR but let it die as there was too much BS on my ad. I guess having three rifles that you can shoot the same groups with isn't a bad thing. I will have to try my economy of scale theory on the boss (again) LOL
whatever I decide it will be posted for sale on AR fisrt.

Plus 1! A rifle above .30 cal should never be made with a push feed action! Go CRF on a medium bore or larger bolt rifle or stay home and shoot jack rabbits in the garden off the front porch, they don't bite , and rarely charge you! Big Grin

Keep the Whitworth!

I also like a CRF in a big bore.

I suppose despite feeling good the question may be which one you shoot best from hunting positions and quickest.

I like Sako's a lot but I'd go with the Whitworth.
